About Brooke
Hi! I’m Brooke Bertrand, Registered Psychotherapist and owner of Bright Raven Psychotherapy. I completed my Master of the Arts degree in Forensic Psychology with a clinical emphasis in 2007 and have worked in a variety of community-based, hospital and university mental health services. I’m a wife, life-long musician, part-time yoga enthusiast, and a full-time hockey mom. Recently, I discovered a love for strength training, which has been a great boost to both my physical and mental well-being. I enjoy the warmth of a hot pot of tea, the company of my two cats, tending to my garden, and getting lost in a good book. In the summer, you’ll find me hiking or by the water, and in winter, I’m either snowshoeing or playing street hockey with my kids. My favorite way to unwind is playing board games with my husband, with Motown or Indie music as the soundtrack.
With 20 years’ experience, I offer trauma-informed, client-centered approach for clients ages 16 and older with a focus on couples therapy. I am an approved Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) mental health provider through Indigenous Services Canada. My areas of clinical interest are, anxiety, substance use and addictions, and the impact of trauma on attachment and the life cycle. I support people that are struggling with anger management, perfectionism, and relationships. I specialize in supporting therapists, frontline healthcare, social service and emergency response workers in managing caregiver and work-related challenges such as stress, vicarious trauma, empathic strain, and burnout.
